The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route begins in Kathmandu and travels overland through the Nepal–Tibet border towards Kerung, Saga, Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash. The journey continues around the base town of Darchen before entering the high-altitude Kora route covering Dirapuk, Dolma-La Pass and Zuthulpuk. The return path follows the same Tibetan plateau landscape back towards Saga, Kerung and finally Kathmandu. This overland route provides gradual acclimatization, breathtaking Himalayan views and direct access to both Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash.

Day-wise Itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu

Your spiritual journey begins at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team greets you and transfers you to a comfortable hotel in the city center.

Kathmandu Temple Tour and Border Drive

Start by visiting three sacred temples - Pashupatinath, Guhyeshwari, and Budhanilkantha. Witness ancient rituals and receive blessings at these holy sites.

Border Crossing to Kerung, Tibet

Complete immigration at Rasuwagadhi and cross into Tibet! The landscape changes dramatically with prayer flags and towering peaks everywhere. Drive to Kerung town surrounded by pine forests. You're at high altitude now, so drink lots of water and rest well to acclimatize.

Kerung to Saga Drive

Journey across the vast Tibetan plateau with spectacular mountain views. Drive alongside the mighty Brahmaputra River through stunning lunar-like landscapes. Spot yaks grazing and remote monasteries on mountainsides. Arrive at Saga town by evening for overnight rest.

Acclimatization Day in Saga

This rest day is crucial for your body to adapt to high altitude (4,600m). Take short walks, practice meditation, and stay hydrated throughout the day. Avoid strenuous activity and eat light meals. This acclimatization prevents altitude sickness for the days ahead.

Journey to Sacred Lake Mansarovar

Reach one of the holiest lakes in the world! Lake Mansarovar's turquoise waters shimmer against snow-covered mountains - absolutely breathtaking. Perform the sacred ritual of taking a holy dip in the freezing waters. Collect holy water and spend the evening in meditation by the lake shore.

Mansarovar to Darchen

Wake early for sunrise over Lake Mansarovar. After morning prayers, collect more holy water before departing for Darchen. Darchen is the starting point for Kailash Parikrama. Rest and prepare your gear - warm clothes, trekking shoes, and light backpacks for the three-day trek.

Kailash Parikrama Day 1 (Darchen to Dirapuk - 20km)

The sacred Kailash Kora begins! Pass through Yam Dwar (Gate of Death) and trek through stunning Tarboche Valley with colorful prayer flags. The north face of Mount Kailash dominates the skyline throughout the day. Reach Dirapuk monastery by evening, feeling spiritually energized despite physical tiredness.

Kailash Parikrama Day 2 (Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk via Dolma-La Pass - 22km)

The most challenging day! Climb to Dolma-La Pass (5,636m) - the highest point where thousands of prayer flags flutter. Descend to Gauri Kund lake, then continue to Zuthulpuk monastery. Though exhausted, you'll feel spiritually cleansed and accomplished.

Kailash Parikrama Day 3 & Return to Saga (18km + drive)

Complete the final leg from Zuthulpuk back to Darchen. You've finished one of the world's most sacred pilgrimages! Drive back to Saga carrying divine blessings of Mount Kailash. Share experiences with fellow pilgrims and rest overnight

Saga to Kathmandu (Long Drive)

Drive back through the Tibetan plateau and cross into Nepal at Kerung. Complete immigration and continue toward Kathmandu through beautiful Himalayan foothills. After days in remote areas, Kathmandu's comforts feel luxurious! Take a hot shower and enjoy a celebratory din

Departure from Kathmandu
