The Kamakhya Devi Yatra is a 4 days / 3 nights temple tour that starts and ends in Guwahati. It is built around Maa Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hill, one of the most revered Shakti Peeths in India and a living centre of Shakta and Tantric worship. Prices start from ₹ 11,500 per person (minimum 1 pax), plus GST. You can arrive at Guwahati airport, Guwahati Railway Station or Kamakhya Junction.
The days are paced so that Kamakhya does not become a rushed stop between transfers. Day 1 covers Basistha Temple and the Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji Temple, followed by a shared sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra. Day 2 starts before breakfast at Kamakhya, so you reach early when the queue is usually calmer, and then covers selected Nilachal shrines, Ugratara, Navagraha Temple on Chitrasal Hill and Umananda Temple on its river island, reached by ferry. Day 3 is a full-day trip to Hajo for Hayagriva Madhava Temple on Monikut Hill and Kedareswara Temple, with a stop at Sualkuchi, Assam's silk-weaving town. Day 4 is kept flexible: a second regular darshan at Kamakhya, a museum or shopping, depending on your flight or train time.
The package includes three hotel nights, three breakfasts and three dinners (vegetarian), a private AC vehicle for pickup, drop and sightseeing, standard Umananda ferry tickets, one shared sunset cruise ticket, drinking water in the vehicle and 24x7 assistance. Official special-darshan tickets, puja and lunch are extra. October to April is the most comfortable time to visit. After check-in and rest, begin with a gentle city temple circuit. Start Early
Leave the hotel before the main city traffic builds. Early arrival generally offers better movement and lower heat, although queue time is never guaranteed.
Footwear Rules
Follow the designated footwear-deposit system. During major festivals, footwear may have to be left well before the main entrance.
Temple Clothing
Wear modest, comfortable clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Carry a shawl or stole and avoid unnecessary leather items.
Rain Protection
A compact umbrella, raincoat and waterproof document pouch are essential from May to September.
River Safety
Use authorised ferries and wear a life jacket where provided. Never insist on crossing when services are suspended because of current or weather.
Comfortable Footwear
The Nilachal complex, Hajo temples and ferry approaches involve slopes, steps and uneven surfaces. Non-slip footwear is recommended.
Cash and Connectivity
Carry small-denomination cash for offerings, local fees and purchases because network congestion can affect digital payments around crowded shrines.
Respect Local Tradition
Kamakhya is a living Shakta and Tantric centre. Observe rituals respectfully, avoid intrusive photography and follow the instructions of priests and security staff.
