Char Dham Yatra Cost 2027: Budget Breakdown and Package Prices

What a Char Dham Yatra will cost in 2027, what pushes the price up or down, and Teerthayan's package prices from Haridwar and Delhi.

By Teerthayan • October 2026

A Char Dham Yatra in 2027 usually costs between about ₹25,000 and ₹60,000 per person on a group or shared basis for 10 to 12 days, and more for private cars, better hotels or helicopter add-ons. Teerthayan's own packages start at ₹27,500 per person for 10 days from Haridwar and ₹33,900 per person for 12 days from Delhi. The final figure depends mainly on where you start, how many days you take, the hotel class, the vehicle, and whether you use a helicopter, pony or palki at Kedarnath.

What decides your Char Dham Yatra cost?

1. Starting city

Haridwar and Rishikesh are the natural starting points for Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Starting from Delhi adds roughly two days of road travel and the hotel nights that go with them, which is why a Delhi package costs more than one from Haridwar.

2. Number of days

Every extra day means another night of hotel, meals and vehicle hire. A tight itinerary saves money but leaves no buffer for landslides or rain, which are common on hill roads. Most pilgrims find 10 days from Haridwar or 12 days from Delhi a sensible balance.

3. Hotel class

Accommodation near the shrines is limited. Budget guesthouses and standard hotels keep costs down, while deluxe rooms in Guptkashi, Sitapur, Uttarkashi and Badrinath fill early and cost noticeably more in May and June.

4. Vehicle

A seat in a shared tempo traveller is the cheapest option. A private sedan, SUV or full tempo traveller for your family adds comfort and flexibility but is paid for whether the seats are full or not.

5. Kedarnath trek, pony, palki or helicopter

The Kedarnath trek from Gaurikund is about 16 to 18 km each way. Walking is free; ponies, palkis and pithoos are charged at rates fixed by the district administration each season. The helicopter is the biggest single add-on. Fares are fixed each season by the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) for flights from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi, and tickets are sold only through the IRCTC Heli Yatra portal. The 2027 fares will be announced before the season.

Teerthayan package prices for 2027 planning

If you prefer a fixed price that bundles the main costs, these are our current package prices per person. Open each package page for inclusions, exclusions and the day-by-day plan.

PackageDurationPrice per person
Char Dham Yatra from Haridwar10 days₹27,500
Char Dham Yatra from Delhi12 days₹33,900
Do Dham Yatra from Haridwar6 days₹21,900
Do Dham Yatra from Delhi8 days₹33,900

The Do Dham options cover Kedarnath and Badrinath only and suit pilgrims who have less time. Add-ons such as helicopter tickets, ponies or palkis are paid separately unless the package page says otherwise.

How to keep the cost down

  • Start from Haridwar. Reach Haridwar by train or bus and you save the Delhi road days.
  • Avoid the opening weeks. Late May and June are the busiest; September and early October usually bring better hotel availability once the monsoon eases.
  • Travel as a group. Sharing a vehicle and rooms is the single biggest saving.
  • Walk if you are fit. The Kedarnath trek is demanding but free. Train for it for a few weeks beforehand.
  • Keep a buffer day. A paid buffer day is cheaper than rebooking trains or flights after a road closure.

Costs people forget

  • Warm clothing, rain gear and good shoes if you do not already own them.
  • Extra hotel nights if a road is blocked.
  • Porters for luggage at Kedarnath, and special puja fees at the temples.
  • Travel insurance that covers high-altitude travel.

Char Dham or Do Dham: comparing like with like

When you compare quotes, check what each one actually includes. Two packages at a similar price can differ a great deal: one may include all meals and a dedicated vehicle, while another covers only breakfast and a shared seat. Ask whether hotel nights near the temples are included, which side of the Kedarnath trek the stay is on, and who pays for parking, tolls and driver allowances. Also check whether the price is per person on twin sharing or for a group of a certain size, because a solo traveller or a couple in a private car will pay more per head. A clear written itinerary is the best way to see the real Char Dham Yatra cost of any offer.

Registration and timing

Registration with the Uttarakhand government is free but compulsory for every pilgrim, on the official registration portal. The temples usually open between late April and May and close around October and November; the exact 2027 opening dates are announced in early 2027. Our Char Dham Yatra registration and route guide explains the steps and the route order.

Bottom line

The Char Dham Yatra cost in 2027 is set far more by your choices than by any fixed fee. Decide your start city, number of days, hotel class and Kedarnath plan first, then compare like with like. A clear budget made now means fewer surprises when the 2027 season opens.
