Somnath Jyotirlinga Yatra

The Somnath Jyotirlinga Yatra is a 7-day, 6-night road pilgrimage from Ahmedabad around the Saurashtra coast of Gujarat, priced at ₹ 19,900 per person. It covers two of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Somnath and Nageshwar, along with Dwarka, the western Dham of the Char Dham, and returns to Ahmedabad.

Somnath stands at Prabhas Patan on the Arabian Sea and comes first in the traditional list of Jyotirlingas. Legend says the Moon God Chandra worshipped Lord Shiva here to be freed from a curse, which is how the shrine got its name, Lord of the Moon. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt many times; the present temple was rebuilt on the initiative of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and the Jyotirlinga was consecrated in May 1951 by President Rajendra Prasad.

The route starts with the drive of about 450 km to Dwarka, with an optional stop at Bala Hanuman Temple in Jamnagar and evening aarti at Dwarkadhish Temple. Day 2 covers Gomti Ghat, Dwarkadhish darshan, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Rukmini Devi Temple and Bet Dwarka. On Day 3 you drive via Porbandar, for Kirti Mandir and the Sudama Temple, to Somnath for evening aarti and the light and sound show. Day 4 is kept for morning darshan, Triveni Sangam, Bhalka Tirth, Gita Mandir and the Baan Stambh. Day 5 visits Gir and Junagadh, and Day 6 returns to Ahmedabad.

Six hotel nights (two each at Dwarka and Somnath), daily breakfast and dinner, an AC vehicle with tolls and parking, and pickup and drop at Ahmedabad are included. Gir safari permits, special pooja, lunch and GST are extra. There is no trekking, so the yatra suits families and senior citizens, and October to March is the most comfortable season.
