The Muktinath Yatra from Kathmandu is a 6-night, 7-day Nepal pilgrimage built around darshan at Muktinath, the Mukti Kshetra in Mustang district, set at about 3,800 metres and sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. Vaishnavas count it among the 108 Divya Desams. Pilgrims bathe under the 108 water spouts (Muktidhara), see the Jwala Mai flame that burns beside flowing water, and seek Shaligram stones, fossil ammonites revered as forms of Lord Vishnu, from the Kali Gandaki. The package starts and ends in Kathmandu and is priced from ₹24,999 per person.
Day 1 brings you to Kathmandu for the evening aarti at Pashupatinath. On Day 2 you drive about 210 km to Pokhara, taking the Manakamana cable car for darshan on the way. Day 3 is the heart of the trip: a 20-minute morning flight to Jomsom, a 23 km jeep ride, a 30-40 minute walk up to the temple, and the night in Jomsom. On Day 4 you fly back to Pokhara for Bindavasini Temple, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave and a boat ride on Fewa Lake to Tal Barahi. Day 5 is the drive back to Kathmandu, and Day 6 covers Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) and Kathmandu Durbar Square with the Kumari Ghar. You fly home on Day 7.
The price includes six nights' hotel stay, the Pokhara–Jomsom–Pokhara flights, the Jomsom–Muktinath jeep, ACAP and TIMS permit fees, a private AC vehicle and an English/Hindi-speaking guide. International airfare, the cable car ticket, the boat ride and entry fees are extra. Indian citizens need no visa but must carry a passport or Voter ID; Aadhaar is not accepted for travel to Nepal. Carry Voter ID or Passport: Mandatory for Indian passengers on Nepal domestic flights (Pokhara–Jomsom); Aadhaar alone is not accepted at airports
Warm Clothing for Jomsom and Muktinath: Even in May–September, temperatures at 3,800m drop sharply at evenings; carry a light down jacket, warm fleece, and comfortable walking shoes
Book Morning Flights to Jomsom: Afternoon flights are frequently disrupted by mountain winds; early morning bookings have far higher reliability
Comfortable Walking Footwear: The 30-40 minute uphill walk to Muktinath on stone-paved trail requires flat-soled trekking or walking shoes — not heels or chappals
Carry Water for Muktinath Walk: Bottled water is available at the base but limited en route; carry at least 1 litre for the uphill walk and darshan time
Currency: Indian Rupees are accepted across Nepal (approx. 1 INR = 1.6 NPR); having some Nepali Rupees is useful for small purchases, cable car tickets, and local fees
