The Amarnath Yatra from Srinagar is a 5-night, 6-day package that takes you on foot along the traditional Pahalgam route to the holy cave of Lord Shiva at 3,888 metres in the Kashmir Himalaya. Inside the cave stands the naturally formed ice Shivling, with smaller ice forms revered as Parvati and Ganesha. Tradition holds that Shiva narrated the Amar Katha, the secret of immortality, to Parvati here. The package starts at Srinagar Airport or Jammu Railway Station and is priced from ₹15,999 per person, with 5% GST extra.
Day 1 is the drive to Pahalgam, the base town on the Lidder river. On Day 2 you drive to Chandanwari and trek about 13 km over Pissu Ghati to the camp at Sheshnag Lake. Day 3 is the hardest: over the Mahagunas Pass (about 4,276 m, the highest point of the route) down to Panchtarni, then 6 km to the cave for darshan and 6 km back to camp. Day 4 is the descent to Baltal, and Day 5 the drive to Srinagar via Sonamarg. You fly home on Day 6.
The price covers five nights' stay (hotels at Pahalgam and Srinagar, tents at Sheshnag, Panchtarni and Baltal), breakfast, a private vehicle for all road transfers, the Chandanwari drive, tolls and parking, and help with Yatra registration. Pony, porter and palki charges, other meals and travel insurance are extra. Every pilgrim needs a Compulsory Health Certificate from an authorised doctor and must be between 13 and 70 years old. The Yatra runs only in summer; the 2026 season was 3 July to 28 August. Read our pilgrimage packing list before you pack, because a warm sleeping bag is not provided.

Arrive at Srinagar Airport or Jammu Railway Station. Our representative receives you and drives to Pahalgam (approx. 95km from Srinagar, 3 hours / approx. 315km from Jammu, 8 hours). The scenic drive passes through the heart of the Kashmir valley — poplar-lined highways, paddy fields, and mountain backdrops. Pahalgam (2,130m) — the "Valley of Shepherds" — is the base town for the traditional Amarnath Yatra route. Situated along the Lidder river at the foot of pine-covered slopes, it is one of the most beautiful towns in Kashmir. Check into hotel. Rest and prepare for the trek ahead — pack your trekking daypack, check gear, and confirm pony/porter arrangements with the tour coordinator if needed. Evening: Short briefing on the next three days of trekking — route, distances, health tips, and what to carry. Early dinner and sleep. Medical Certificate is Mandatory
Obtain the Compulsory Health Certificate from a government-authorised doctor before departure — no entry on the Yatra route without it.
Carry a Sleeping Bag
Nights at Sheshnag and Panchtarni can drop to near-freezing — a good sleeping bag rated to -5°C is essential; it is not provided in the package.
Trek Shoes with Ankle Support
The Pahalgam route has rocky, uneven, and sometimes muddy terrain — trekking shoes with ankle support are essential; flat sandals or chappals are not suitable.
Pack Light
You carry your own daypack on the trek — keep it to 7-8kg maximum. Clothing, water, snacks, medicines, and torch only. Heavier gear can be put on a pony or porter.
Start Trekking Early Each Day
Begin each day's trek by 6-7 AM — afternoon weather at high altitude can deteriorate quickly with rain, mist, or hail; early starts ensure safe arrival at camp.
Use Trekking Poles
Highly recommended for Pissu Ghati (steep ascent Day 2) and the Baltal descent (Day 4) — reduces knee strain significantly over multiple days.
Langar is Available
Free community meals (langar) from various seva organisations are available at all camps — a beautiful tradition of the Yatra; accept with gratitude.
Carry Cash
No ATMs exist on the trek route — carry adequate cash from Pahalgam for pony/porter, paid meals, personal purchases, and emergencies.
