Mahakaal Darshanam

Mahakaal Darshanam is a three-day, two-night Ujjain pilgrimage that starts and ends in Indore, priced from ₹ 8,900 per person. Its focus is Mahakaleshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and the only one whose lingam faces south (Dakshinamukhi). Here Shiva is worshipped as Mahakal, the Lord of Time, and the pre-dawn Bhasma Aarti, in which the lingam is adorned with sacred ash, is the high point of the trip.

Ujjain is about 56 km from Indore, roughly an hour and a half by road. On Day 1 you check into your Ujjain hotel and visit Harsiddhi Temple, a Shakti Peeth known for its tall lamp pillars, and Kal Bhairav Temple, ending with the evening aarti at Ram Ghat on the Shipra. Day 2 begins in the small hours with the Bhasma Aarti, followed by rest, a walk through the Mahakal Lok corridor, Mangalnath Temple and Sandipani Ashram, where Lord Krishna is said to have studied. Day 3 allows a final general darshan, queue permitting, before the drive back to Indore airport or railway station.

The package includes two nights in an Ujjain hotel on twin or triple sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, a private AC vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing, Indore pickup and drop, tolls, parking and driver charges, help with Bhasma Aarti booking and 24x7 assistance. Bhasma Aarti seats are allotted by the temple administration and cannot be guaranteed, so book soon after confirming. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga on the Narmada can be added as a paid extension; it is not part of the base price. October to March is the most comfortable season.
